ACCREDITED AT 'A' WITH 3.35 CGPA IN 3rd CYCLE BY NAAC
The K.L.E. Society’s G. I. Bagewadi Arts, Science and Commerce College’s Physical Education and Sports department is one of the oldest departments. Department was established in the year 1961 along with inception of the college. The department strives to inculcate appropriate values and qualities required to develop the sports persons and physical education at various levels. Physical Education and Sports programme is designed for students to gain specialized knowledge in the areas of Physical Education and Sports. The programme helps you chalk out your pathway to become an innovator in the exciting world of physical education and sports. A well-equipped and well-managed department of Physical Education and Sports is the foundation of modern educational institution. The department has various sports facilities like 8 lane standard swimming pool, 16 multi-station gym, table-tennis, Carrom boards, Indoor wooden shuttle-badminton court and etc, Outdoor facilities like 200 mts Running Track, Kabaddi Court, Volleyball Court, Basketball Court, Football Court, Kho-Kho Court, Handball Court, Hockey Court, Ball Badminton Court, Netball court etc. Department conducts annual sports meet for students to bring out the best out of them. The department has contributed at large in making career of the students involving in shaping their physical and mental abilities. Through competition students develop their abilities to evolve. They learn to handle the risk involved in facing the situation. Competitions also equip the students with soft skills of managing relationships, handling failure, conflicts and subjectivity for career success.
Special diet is been provided by department to university blues and other sports achievers and special practice sessions are conducted to bring perfection in sportsmen.
The department has organized inter-collegiate swimming competition under Rani Chennamma University, Belagavi jurisdiction and also conducted selection trails for Men and Women participants.
The department has 42 university blues till date.
